Depending on your window manager settings, there may be a small dashed line under each menu. Clicking on this allows a menu to be detached from the menubar and to float above the browser window.
Creates a new browser window and loads the home page into it. Instructions for setting the home page are described in the Section called General in the chapter called Setting Galeon Preferences.
Creates a new notebook tab in the current browser window and loads the home page into it.
Opens a local file. A file selector window is opened, allowing you to browse through the filesystem for the file you'd like to open.
Opens a dialog with an entry field that you can type a new URL into.
Saves a copy of the current page to disk. A dialog window is opened allowing you to choose the path and filename you'd like to use.
Creates an e-mail message referencing the current URL.
Prints the current page. A dialog window is opened, allowing you to specify various print-related settings.
Opens a dialog allowing you to save the current session to a file.
Opens a dialog allowing you to choose a session to load.
Recently-opened sessions are listed here. Clicking one opens it.
If multiple tabs are open, the currently-selected tab is closed. If only one tab exists in the window, the window is closed. If this window is the only window opened, the program will exit as well.
Saves a record of the sites you are currently viewing and exits. The next time you run Galeon, your session will be restored automatically for you — all the windows and tabs you have open will be reopened, and their contents will be reloaded.
Closes all open browser windows and exits the program.
Copies the currently selected text to the clipboard, and also deletes the original version of the text if it is in an editable field.
Copies the currently selected text to the clipboard.
If an editable field is selected, any text stored by the clipboard is pasted into it.
Opens a dialog box that allows you to search for a word in the page being viewed.
Repeats previous Find.
Toggles the display of the menubar.
Toggles the display of the main toolbar.
Toggles the display of the bookmark toolbars.
Toggles the display of the statusbar.
Toggles full screen mode, which is described in more detail in the Section called Full Screen Mode.
Increases the sizes of the fonts on the page.
Resets the sizes of the fonts on the page to their defaults.
Decreases the sizes of the fonts on the page.
Sets the character set used to display the page, bypassing Mozilla's autodetection.
Allows you to choose between using the current page's default stylesheet, no stylesheet, or any alternate stylesheets that may be defined by the page.
Opens a new window containing the source code for the currently loaded page.
Detaches the currently-selected tab, placing it in a new window.
Clicking on one of the windows listed in this submenu detaches the currently-selected tab and moves it to that window.
Selects the previous tab.
Selects the next tab.
Moves the currently-selected tab to the previous position in the notebook.
Moves the currently-selected tab to the next position in the notebook.
The settings menu offers quick access to some commonly used settings.
Images in a page can be set to load Always, From current server only, or Never. If From current server only is selected, only images that originate from the same place as the current page will be loaded.
Animated images in a page can be set to play Continuously, Once, or Never. Continuously means that animations will loop. Once means the animation will play once and then stop. Never means the animation will not be played - only the first frame of the sequence will be displayed.
Galeon's proxy usage can be set to Disabled, Manual, or Auto. These settings are described in more detail in the Section called Network in the chapter called Setting Galeon Preferences.
Overrides the fonts that the page specifies, instead using the user-selected default fonts.
Overrides the colors that the page specifies, instead using the user-selected default colors.
Allows Java code to be executed. This has an effect only if a Java plugin has been installed.
Allows JavaScript code to be executed.
Allows pages to open popup windows.
Toggles whether pages should loaded over the network or from the local cache.
Opens the preferences window, where all of Galeon's settings can be viewed and/or modified.
Adds a bookmark to the default bookmark folder, possibly also opening a dialog box allowing you to name the bookmark. Instructions for setting the default bookmark folder can be found in the Section called Bookmarks Editor in the chapter called Using Galeon Bookmarks.
Adds a bookmark for the currently loaded URL to one of your bookmarks folders. This option is described in the Section called Bookmarks in the chapter called Setting Galeon Preferences>.
Opens the bookmarks editor.
Displays a listing of automatically created bookmarks based on sites you've recently visited. This is described in the Section called Bookmarks in the chapter called Setting Galeon Preferences
Shows the items on your Bookmarks Toolbar.
The first six items in this menu, Back, Forward, Up, Reload, Home page, and Stop, are simply copies of the corresponding toolbar buttons, which are described in the Section called The Main Toolbar.
Under these six items is a dynamically generated list of links to pages that have been recently visited in this window.
This menu provides access to several additional browsing-related functions.
You can view all the stored cookies on the Cookies page of the Persistent Data Manager by selecting View cookies.... The View cookie sites... item opens the Cookie Sites page of the Persistent Data Manager, allowing you to set acception/rejection policies for cookies on a per-site basis.
Cookie permissions can also be set on a per-site basis from this menu. Allow cookies from this site allows the currently loaded site to store cookies on your computer. Block cookies from this site will prevent the currently loaded site from storing any cookies on your computer.
Image loading can be controlled on a per-site basis. Allow images from this site will allow the currently loaded site to display images, while Block images from this site will prevent the currently loaded site from displaying any images. To view the list of sites with explicitly set permissions, select View image sites...
You can view all the stored passwords on the Passwords page of the Persistent Data Manager by selecting View passwords.... The View password sites... item opens the Password Sites page of the Persistent Data Manager, allowing you to specify sites for which username/password combinations will not be saved.
Shows the history window or dock, which contains a list of all previously visited locations. You can learn more about changing history-related settings in the Section called History in the chapter called Setting Galeon Preferences, and more about the dialog itself in the Section called History in the chapter called Other Tools.
Opens a new window allowing you to read Java-related messages that are emitted.
Opens a new window allowing you to read Javascript-related messages that are emitted.
Reruns the druid that is run the first time Galeon is started, allowing you to import preferences and bookmarks that are already being used by other browsers installed on your system.
Displays the Galeon FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page.
Displays this manual.
Loads the official Galeon homepage.
Loads a page allowing you to report a bug in Galeon.
Opens a page in the current window displaying information about the plugins that Galeon has been configured to use.
Displays a window containing information about Galeon.
