Give your comments on How to restore individual files from disk using flexbackup on e-smith here.
This How-To is quite old. SME 6.0 is now setup to backup differently than previous versions.
Per Darrell May: If you wish to perform interactive restores, configure flexbackup to use dump. Any other backup will not be browsable.
/sbin/e-smith/config setprop flexbackup Type dump
/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/flexbackup.conf
The following executable script file (flexbackup-restore) is in my /root directory. It assumes you have a sharedfiles ibay setup and restores files there. You will need to chown the files in order for Windows PC's to see the directory structure.
mkdir /home/e-smith/files/ibays/sharedfiles/files/restore
cd /home/e-smith/files/ibays/sharedfiles/files/restore
/bin/mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
/bin/mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf 1
/usr/bin/flexbackup -restore
/bin/mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind
- Thanks for the feedback! So you're saying the how to is good for ES 4.x, but your additions are required for SME6?
If you would like to make a "How to restore individual files from disk using flexbackup on SME6" How to out of this, let me know, here. wiki, or web page is fine. (RonM)
