The motor of a pollable floppy drive does not need to be turned on when checking to see if the diskette has changed. The FDGETCHANGE ioctl currently turns on the motor of a pollable floppy drive. Since Volume Management continuously uses the FDGETCHANGE ioctl, the motor of a pollable floppy drive will be kept on.
