![]() ![]() ![]() James Douglas Morrison
was born in 1943 in Melbourne, Florida. Best known for being the lead singer
of the rock band The Doors, Jim was also a poet and songwriter, filmmaker
and writer. His output were incredible. In the twenty seven years of his
life he recorded seven albums of songs, toured and preformed througout.
the United states, Europe, Canada and Mexico and produced two award-winning
films. Yet the constant thread in his life were writing.
Jim Morrison's career
as a rock and roll star may have started on a beach in Venice, but the
spiritual Morrison was born on a lonely highway in the desert at a young
age. Morrison described the incident in "Peace Frog" (Morrison Hotel);
"Indians scattered on Dawn's Highway bleeding, ghosts crowd the young child's
fragile egg-shell mind".
He took control of of his hypnotized audience just as an indian shaman would his patients. Jim also believed that he was living out people's greatest fears and inner-most desires on-stage. The things people did not have time to deal with in everyday life were portrayed by Morrison during the performances. People have said they "saw" the shaman-side of Morrison leave his body during the Miami concert on March 1, 1969. This concert proved to be one of the most controversial in Rock History. Jim Morrison was later convicted of two misdemeanor charges stemming from the concert. As he himself said of poetry: "real poetry dosen?t say anything, it just ticks off the possibilities. opens all doors. you can walk. through any one that suits you.. if my poetry aims to achieve . anything, it?s to deliver people from the limited ways in which. they see and feel." He died in 1971 in Paris, and his grave is in the honoured . Pere-Lachaisse graveyard, among masters such as Honore De Balzac,. Charles Baudelaire and Paul Verlaine...
