===================== File: doom_beta7_update-x86.zip Author: id Software, Inc. BeOS port by Chris Herborth (chrish@qnx.com) Release: 1.9 (BeOS beta 7) Compatibility: R3 (x86) Location: /pub/contrib/games/ Description: Everybody's favourite first-person action adventure Notes: READ THE README.BEOS FILE BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING! Sorry to shout, but that's important. :-) *** This is a smaller archive for people who have *** *** already downloaded BeOS DOOM or who already *** *** have a WAD file handy. *** Known bugs include: - running full-screen seems to kill DeskBar regularly; I'm not doing anything too scarey in my BWindowScreen code, so it's probably DeskBar getting stuck on some semaphore - the limitations mentioned in the README.BeOS New features include: - sound and music at the same time - preliminary (probably non-working; see the README.BeOS) networking support - two new pixel stretching options (-3 and -4 for 3x and 4x normal window size) - various bug fixes - oh, and an x86 port INSTALLATION Unpack doom_beta7_update-x86.zip anywhere you want; it'll create a DOOM-beta-7-x86 directory full of all the interesting things and a README.BeOS. Move the contents of the DOOM-beta-7-x86 folder into the folder where your existing DOOM beta is; this should overwrite the old DOOM, DOOM.xMAP, and README.BeOS files. Read the README.BeOS for more information! DOOM must be in the same directory as doom.wad, doom1.wad, or doom2.wad, and those WAD files much be in lower-case. =====================
