Short: Hide stuff in LSB of sound and gfx Author: Lyle Zapato Uploader: commando nwlink com Type: util/crypt Version: 1.03 Architecture: m68k-amigaos Stega v1.03 Copyright 1995-96 Lyle Zapato Stega lets you hide messages (text, data, programs, etc.) inside the least significant bits (LSB) of sound samples and 24-bit color graphics (8-bit greyscale). This will alter the image/sound VERY slightly, so that no one will know that the message is there unless they run it through Stega. Messages can be unhidden to a file or read from a cli (text files only). Messages will survive file conversions (WAV <> IFF) and will still be readable if target format is supported by Stega (otherwise you convert back). Uses: - Hidding encrypted files for subliminal transport. Keeps people from knowing that you are engaged in encrypted communications. - Adding notations/information to sounds/images. Only useful if file won't be edited since message will be lost. Supported carrier types: * SOUND - IFF-8SVX - RIFF-WAV (MS Windows) * GRAPHICS - IFF-24 (uncompressed) - IFF-DEEP (uncompressed) NOTE: Compressed formats are not yet supported. To use IFF-24 you will need a program that writes/reads uncompressed files. However, most people don't seem to use compressed 8SVX's so it is still very usable for that. This program is Copyrighted Freeware.
