Before installing OpenOffice.org, one or more operating system patches from SUN Microsystems must be installed. You can find them on the program CD in the following directories or download them at http://sunsolve.sun.com

The versions mentioned above are the minimum requirements, newer (higher) version numbers are also allowed.
Please note that copy and paste via clipboard between OpenOffice.org 1.x and OpenOffice.org 2.4 might not work in OpenOffice.org format. If that happens, choose 'Edit - Paste Special' and choose a format other than OpenOffice.org, or open the document in OpenOffice.org 2.4 directly.
Please make sure you have enough free memory in the temporary directory on your system and that read, write and run access rights have been granted. Close all other programs before starting the installation.

The Mozilla address book driver requires the SUNWzlib package. This package is not part of the minimum Solaris operating system installation. If you require access to the Mozilla address book, then add this package to your Solaris operating system using the command "pkgadd" from the installation CD.

Varning: Funktionen för aktivering av fillåsning kan orsaka problem med Solaris 2.5.1 och 2.7 om de används tillsammans med Linux NFS 2.0. Om systemmiljön har dessa parametrar rekommenderas det kraftigt att du undviker att använda funktionen för låsning av filer. Annars kommer OpenOffice.org att hänga sig när du försöker öppna en fil från en NFS-monterad katalog på en Linux-dator.
Fyll gärna i produktregistreringen när du installerar programmet. The best way to start contributing is to subscribe to one or more of the mailing lists, lurk for a while, and gradually use the mail archives to familiarize yourself with many of the topics covered since the OpenOffice.org source code was released back in October 2000. When you're comfortable, all you need to do is send an email self-introduction and jump right in. If you are familiar with Open Source Projects, check out our To-Dos list and see if there is anything you would like to help with at http://development.openoffice.org/todo.html.
