File: NodeInspector Author: Michael Odawa (odawa@well.com) Release: 1.4 12/18/98 Compatibility: R4 Location: utilities Description: Browse and Edit file Attributes NodeInspector is a visual, drag-and-drop browser and editor for file attributes. Drop a file or folder onto NodeInspector, and you can see which attributes are defined and what their values are. The latest version is 1.4, released on December 18, 1998 for BeOS R4. NodeInspector 1.4 includes the following features: o In-line editing of attributes. o Double-click on the node's icon to make the file visible in the Tracker. NodeInspector 1.3 (for BeOS R3) added the following features: o Displays all attributes associated with any BeOS file. o Allows you to edit attribute data for strings, dates, integers, BRects, BOOLs, etc. o You can view any attribute in hex as well as its native format (string, date, etc.). o You can now add new attributes to a node. o You can now cut and paste attributes from one node to another. o Shows the target for symbolic links; allows you to switch the link to another target, or repair broken symbolic links. o Fixes some minor bugs: ArgvReceived now working. When you drop a file on its icon, the program no longer goes into never-never land. Restrictions: o Hand-editing the size of attributes has been disabled for safety. Eventually we will get this worked out. o Be careful when you switch the type of your attributes. This feature has not been tested thoroughly. NodeInspector is freeware; it's worth many times what you pay for it.
