Matrix 1.0

Based on xmatrix by Jamie Zawinski
BeOS version © 1999 Daniel Wineman
Released 13 July 1999

What it is

Matrix is a freeware screen saver module compatible with BeOS R4.5 and higher. It is supposed to look like a certain computer display from the recent movie The Matrix.

This version of Matrix is based on an xscreensaver module by Jamie Zawinski. His copyright notice appears at the bottom of this document.

How to use it

To install, place the module (or a link to it) in /boot/home/config/add-ons/Screen Savers/. Open the ScreenSaver preference panel and select Matrix from the list. The options are self-explanatory; just play with them a bit. The display will be somewhat faster if you choose "Erase Desktop."

Obtaining newer versions and source code

The latest binary and source releases of Matrix can be found on its web page. The original xmatrix source code is available in the xscreensaver distribution.

Contacting the author

If you have any problems with Matrix, send an email to djw@saber.net. Please do not write to JWZ with questions pertaining to the BeOS version; he has nothing to do with it. But if you want, you can visit his site for more cool toys.
